Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Robert Brault

There is no disputing that these are extraordinary and challenging times that we are presently in. Rising cases, rolling lockdowns and uncertainty of what the future may hold. So many are struggling under the weight of the hardships we are facing. However, while it may feel like there are moments where skies may seem dark, we must look for those rays of sunshine – the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel.

It is our hope that we all continue to search for and cherish the little joys that each day can bring. The first bite of a quiet breakfast before the daily hustle begins. Putting on your favourite sweatshirt fresh and warm from the dryer. A bunch of flowers added to your shopping cart at the checkout of a grocery store. Singing loudly to your favourite song on the radio. A hilarious meme sent to you by a friend to brighten your afternoon. Organizing a cupboard full of items long forgotten. A rush of endorphins after a living room workout. Stopping to appreciate the golden hues of sunset at the end of your workday. The flicker of excitement in your children’s eyes at the falling snow as they bundle up to play. A pizza dinner and family games night on a cozy Friday evening in. Scrolling through old photos on our phones of memories and moments stolen from what seems like a different life that also serve as a bright reminder of what’s to come.

Perhaps when we look back at this unique moment in history it will be these tiny glimmers of hope that we will remember. For as Robert Brault reminds us; these small moments may become the memories that we hold most cherished in our hearts.

Be well,

Now more than ever, local businesses need our support. The restaurant and hospitality industry is one of the hardest hit during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Each time you order from your local eatery, you’re putting more money into the local economy and helping restaurants during this critical time. Unfortunately, UberEats and many other companies are charging restaurants up to 30% for food delivery. Not only that, food on UberEats is typically more expensive than ordering from the restaurant directly.

The website, Not Uber Eats, was built to encourage people to order directly from local restaurants. Next time you don’t feel like cooking, check out the website to find find new local delights. You are sure to find something delicious, all while supporting our neighbourhood eateries!
